The Calgary Stampeders unveiled their captains for the upcoming season.

Quaterback Drew Tate will captain the offense, linebacker Juwan Simpson will be the man on defense, and linebacker Marc Calixte and receiver Larry Taylor will lead on special teams.

The captains were decided on by a vote from the players and Stamps coach and general managaer John Hufnagel said "obviously they've garnered a lot of respect, and I think they're good selections."

The captains will have their first chance to prove themselves, along with the rest of the team, on Sunday when they open up their season at McMahon against the Montreal Alouettes.

Looking forward to the game, quarterback Drew Tate said the pressure isn't to replace former starting QB Henry Burris, "the pressure is to win, period."

The Stamps' season kicks off on Canada Day at five o'clock.
