The STARS lottery is back, looking to raise $11-million to keep rural albertans safe.

Megan Thomson says the money raised is vital to their being able to continue the service.

"Our goal is to save lives and the loterry helps us to do that, it provides critical funding that helps us provide the best in critical care to patients when they need us," she says. Since 1985 we've flown more than 45,000 missions, meaning that thousands of Albertans have been touched by STARS, but also their families, their friends and their communities."

In 2020-2021 STARS made 13 trips each to High River and Black Diamond, nine to Vulcan and three to Nanton.

They also air lifted a patient just last week from a collision near Nanton.

While the message is to keep STARS flying and saving lives the prizes aren't too bad either.

There's also an early bird prize that will be drawn for on March 3 including a lakeside mountain retreat including a luxury chalet, Jeep, recreational toys and cash.

They have a Bon Voyage Travel prize which includes a $100,000 travel voucher, plus $50,000 cash or if the winner isn't a real big travellor, $125,000 cash.

There also the regular prizes including dream homes in Lethbridge, Calgary and Edmonton.
