Nothing yet when it comes to federal support for the hog industry.

Federal agriculture minister Gerry Ritz says they're having day-to-day discussions with the Canadian Pork Council and the two sides are close to an agreement.

Ritz says they're looking at options on how they can meet the demands of the Canadian Pork Council without triggering negative trade reaction.

He says they are seriously considering some sort of cull program which could be similar to last year's sow cull program.

Canada's pork producers are hoping for a timely response.
