The High River Flyers crushed the Mountainview Colts in Didsbury on Saturday night, November 2nd.

It was a huge win for the Heritage B Junior Hockey League team.

The Flyers have now won three of their last five games.

The Flyers scored first with just three minutes and seven seconds left in the first period as Jharin Bantugan scored assisted by Brennan McPherson and Chase Groeneveld.

The Colts would score just 32 seconds later but Logan Maclean would score with just one minute and 22 seconds left in the first for the Flyers to reclaim the lead.

Then the Flyers speciaty teams would kick into high gear in the second as they scored three short-handed goals and added two more on the powerplay.

The Colts would muster another goal in the third period but it was too little, too late.

It was a very physical game too with four Game Misconducts handed out. Two to each team.

Flyers Sean Burns was given a 10 minute misconduct and an additional five minutes for Checking to the Head.

Colts' Laine Rothenbusch was given a 10 minute Game Misconduct. 

Carter Layden of the Colts was given a 10 minute Game Misconduct and an additional five minutes for Fighting.

And in the final second of the game Flyers  Kian Simonson was assessed a 10 minute Game Misconduct for Fighting, an additional five for Fighting and two more minutes for Roughing.

The Flyers are back in action Sunday November 3rd as they host the Strathmore Wheatland Kings for the annual Fight Cancer game.  The Flyers jersey's will be auctioned off after the game.

 

And in other HJHL action it was the Okotoks Bisons extending their winning streak to 14 as they edged out the Lomond Lakers 5-4 in Vulcan.
