Alberta RCMP were kept busy over the Heritage Day long weekend.

Across the province, over 2000 traffic tickets were issued from July 29 to August 1.

As expected, speeding tickets comprised a bulk of those, with 983 total.

Police removed 91 impaired drivers from the road, with 44 distracted driving tickets, and 40 drivers fined for driving without a seatbelt.

Insp. Chris Romanchych was quoted in a release from Alberta RCMP:

"The Alberta RCMP worked to make the long weekend a safe and enjoyable holiday for those out on our provincial streets and highways... By preventing and removing risks from the roads, the RCMP is committed to upholding traffic safety across Alberta."
