The Calgary Stampeders suddenly got a lot deeper at quarterback. They inked former top NFL draft pick, quarterback Alkili Smith to push starter Henry Burris at camp.

Smith who was the 3rd pick in the 1999 NFL draft never panned out as expected in the NFL and after 4 years there and 2 in NFL Europe found himself out of the game selling real estate in San Diego. He says with only 22 NFL games under his belt he's still got "fresh legs"

Meanwhile, the NFL draft is all set for this weekend. While the CFL draft goes Wednesday and Thursday. the Stamps have 3 of the first 6 picks. Picking 3rd, 5th and 6th.
