Turner Valley Legion honours victims of 9-11

The town may be small, but it knows how to give a big tribute.

This Saturday it's the third year in a row the Royal Canadian Legion in Turner Valley salutes Americans and pay tribute those who died in terrorist attacks five years ago.

President Gordon Day says says it's a global event.

"Up until now we've been telecasted every year and it just has been growing and growing," he says.  "Until now we have actually become the international focus.  New York has sent us greetings, and also their fire crest and shoulder flashes.  And last year we even got a telephone call from London, because we paid tribute to the London bombings as well."

Local MP Ted Menzies will speak and  firefighters will come from as far as Turner Valley's sister town Cut Bank Montana.

The ceremony starts at 5:30, and the buffet opens at 6.
