High River town council has passed a bylaw setting rates and fees for 2023.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says they were able to keep increases to a minimum.

"The utility rates increased by 0.05 per cent, that's because we used other monies to balance that increase out, so the residents aren't paying the full bit," he says.

For instance, water fees go from $30.47 to $30.62 bi-monthly while residential garbage collection goes from $22.80 to $22.91 bi-monthly.

"We're always looking for other ways to find efficiencies and everything else, the tag line that every municipality uses, our administration crew does a great job of keeping things in line and making sure we're not over charging anybody and keeping our rates fair and competitive with other facilities."

The Rates and Fees bylaw goes into effect May 1st.
