The Highwood candidate forum was held in Okotoks on Wednesday night.

Around 200 constituents came to the Okotoks Evangelical Free Church to watch in person, with more watching live online.

All three candidates (UCP candidate RJ Sigurdson, NDP candidate Jessica Hallam, and WIP candidate Mike Lorusso) were able to attend and field questions from locals.

They were given two minutes for an opening statement, a minute to answer each question, and a minute and a half for closing statements.

The candidates answered 27 questions submitted both ahead of time and at the event, which covered a broad range of topics including healthcare delivery, class sizes, taxation, party leadership, and cost of living.

Okotoks and Diamond Valley Chambers of Commerce hosted the event, with Okotoks Chamber president Chelsea Besuijen stepping in to moderate after Alberta Chamber executive director Shauna Feth was delayed and unable to make it.
