High River council recently got a look at the latest revision of the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board's Growth Plan.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says it's a last chance to have a say on any parts that don't look right.

"The ten municipalities, the board is meeting weekly and going through some of the final touches and adjustments that are being made to it so that's where we're at right now so everything's in place for the vote at the end of May," he says.

Snodgrass says since the town doesn't directly border on Calgary, the growth plan won't affect it for many years, but there is a time in the future where it will be impacted more.

"How the Town of High River works with Foothills County is the important piece to watch in all of this, but from the Town of High River's standpoint this growth plan is very, very important for the future of out communities and how we service them and at the top of the list is how we deal with and distribute water," the mayor says. "It's the number one commodity in all of this and it's the crux of the matter as to who gets it and where you can be to get it and where the growth areas are going to be located because it all comes down to how expensive it is to service things."

He says if it costs too much for developments town's won't be able to grow.
