A Weather Advisory is now in place on top of this morning's Special Weather Statement.

According to Environment Canada, conditions are favourable for the development of funnel clouds today.

The advisory went out at noon, and says the clouds aren't likely to pose a risk:

"These types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. This weak rotation is normally not a danger near the ground. However, there is a chance that this rotation could intensify and become a weak land spout tornado."

The statement is in place for several areas of the Foothills including Okotoks, High River, and Diamond Valley, as well as Calgary.

Earlier this morning, a special weather statement was issued because of hot, dry conditions expected on the weekend.
