Prairie Sky Equine Assisted Therapy (PSEAT) is an inclusive community of riders, volunteers and of course our incredible horses. We strive to continually provide our participants with a topnotch experience, in a safe and friendly environment. At PSEAT our goal is to give assistance and therapy to all who may need it, our learning goes beyond the saddle and truly changes lives. We see no limits and always greet each opportunity with open arms. Our programs have assisted people and children with not only physical needs, but also emotional, and mental as well. Equine Assisted Therapy has been proven to help all of these and the results are astounding. Through our years of experience we have been able to witness this first hand. In saying this, we are continually trying to reach more people/children that we can help and to grow our programs. We currently offer a disabilities program year round, along with an at risk youth program.
The Foothills Ride For STARS is an annual trail ride, hunt (English Jumping), wagon ride, and hike that we are very excited to be taking over to continue on supporting Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS). For anyone in the equine world we are all very fortunate to know that STARS is there to help us in those unimaginable circumstances. It is therefore with the upmost joy and honour that we will continue to donate back a portion of the proceeds from this amazing day to keep STARS in the air.
We will be running the trail ride in small groups. This means riders will be signing up for groups of 15, each lead by a pair of experienced Wranglers. Each group will be departing about five minutes apart, creating a very calm atmosphere and increased enjoyment, as you will be one in 15 rather than one in 200. There will also be a hunt available on the day where you can put on your tall boots, grab your English saddle and join some of the members of the Calgary Hunt Club in for an action filled day of trying out a hunter jumper course. The hunt will take a different route than the trail ride and will create a very unique and exciting experience.
Would you like to be involved but are not able to take part in the horseback riding? There is also the option to spend the day hiking the awe-inspiring landscape, or to spend it in the back of a horse drawn wagon! The trail hike will take you through the beautifully wooded landscape, where the falls colours will be nothing short of breathtaking, while the wagon will take you from the tent and around the lake, to the half way point.
The location of the day is in Priddis on The Harvie’s private ranch. The day will begin with a delicious breakfast provided by the CS Caravan Crew, which will fuel you up for the beginning of the day. Once breakfast is completed you will be led to a beautiful old log cabin where there will be snacks, refreshments, and live entertainment. This will be a great time to sit back, visit with friends, old and new, and truly take in the day. We will then carry on the day with next leg of our ride, which includes a return to the beautiful white tent that over looks a lake, that beautifully reflects the brilliant fall colours! As if it couldn’t get any more spectacular, the live music will continue on, and there will be a delicious and mouth watering dinner to top it all off.
Gather your friends and family, for this very special, memorable, and meaningful day. If you have been look for a way to give back, all while being able to kick up your heels and enjoy yourself you have found your place.
