It's going to be a busy weekend at the Okotoks Curling Club with the U-18 Men's and Women's Provincial Curling Championships getting underway Thursday, March 1.

Turner Valley's Sydney Libbus is playing second for Chelsey Whitney's Fairview rink and says this week is the first time the foursome have met face to face.

"We were practicing yesterday for an hour. But that was the first time meeting some of them. I played with one of the other girls and then the other two girls have played together. We sort of had two knowing each other, and the other two knew each other. So, it was just becoming a team."

Sydney Libbus has always been a curling fan. She was front and centre back in 2011 at the Provincial Men's Curling Championships in High River.

Libbus says they're definitely not the favourites going in, but adds they're all very good curlers and if they can find a way to come together quickly they could surprise a few people.

Okotoks Ryleigh Bakker rink is also taking part on the women's side.

The Provincials run through Sunday, March 4.
