For the second straight night, one inning defined a Okotoks Dawgs’ loss. This time around the club came out on the wrong end of a 14-7 clash with the Medicine Hat Mavericks.

A lengthy rain delay killed any type of momentum the Dawgs mustered in the early goings of the tilt; an eight-run fifth inning from the Mavericks made sure of it.

Following the two hour rain stoppage, Drew Smernes took over on the hill to replace CJ Lewington who, prior to the sky opening up, was in the middle of his best start of 2017.

Lewington finished with five strikeouts over three innings of work, allowing one earned run.

On deck, Okotoks takes on the Edmonton Prospects tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Seaman Stadium, tomorrow the team hosts the Brooks Bombers at 2:05 on Sunday for Fathers Day.
