The top chuckwagon drivers in the land gather Thursday, March 23, in the City for the annual Calgary Stampede Canvas Auction.

High River's Jordie Fike, who had an off year last season, says he's a little nervous heading into the auction.

"You know, I don't have anything going into this sale. I usually have something set up, but this year I don't have anything nailed down. It's new territory for me, but I'm hoping it goes well."

He says he's pretty sure his slow start last season will play a role in the bids he receives this year.

"Last year was just one of those years. I've thought about it all year long. It hasn't left my memory yet. I wish it would, but it hasn't. You think about ways you can change that and you're much more driven."

Fike pulled in $55,000 from Shaw GMC last year, which was $15,000 lower than what he pulled in in 2015.
