The hockey season will get underway for the High River Flyers tonight as they hit the ice tonight, Sept. 7th, for the seasons first exhibition game in Okotoks.

Coach Colton Hayes says he still has a few spots to fill, but he is counting on his returning players to help the team rack up some wins.

'We have six guys for sure," said Hayes "Logan MacLean, Jacob Jefferies, Micheal McTIghe, Liam Bollivar and Chase Groeneveld. WE have a good core of them back including Chance Vink and Connor McCarrol in net, so it is looking pretty good for us."

The new coach and his assitants have had some tough practices leading up to this week.

"With my coaching style and the way I use to play, I like the high intensity, high pace, so that kind of the hockey team we will be on the ice. We have a lot of great skaters."

The games on the weekend will help the team finalize their numbers.

"Still waiting on a couple of guys who are at Junior A camps and then we start the season off on Friday the 14th in High River and the guys are really excited about it."

The Flyers take on the Bisons at the Murray Arena in Okotoks tonight (sept. 7th) and host Strathmore tomorrow night at the Rec-plex at 7 p.m.
