The High River Flyers had some stops and starts during the first half of the Heritage Junior "B" Hockey League season, but overall has done much better than many would have thought.

One of the big reasons is the play of league leading scorer Davis Sheldon.

Flyers Coach Tyson Avery says Sheldon's been just as much a leader off the ice as on this season.

"He's doing his part for sure and he's been great with the younger guys and keeping them focused and keeping their spirits up and helping them with little bits here and there. So, no surprise at all. The only surprise might be is how understanding he is with the younger guys."

The Flyers get back to business Friday, January 5 when the Okotoks Bisons come to town.
