The Foothills FC is ready for the their first official soccer match in Okotoks.

The team spent the week practicing on the field at Foothills Composite High School adjusting to their new setting.

Centreback Dominick Zato says they had a solid preseason.

"We've been training, at least a majority of us, since January and we went on a nice preseason trip over to England, so that tests different environments playing on soft grass over there against pretty tough competition, so we're looking forward to the season now and trying to go for the win."

The team's Head Coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr., says the team has players from across the country.

"We've been building this project for about three years on the PDL side and it's always local, home grown talent. We look within the region of Alberta, Calgary in particular to start with, and we've since expanded that web, and with the Canadian Premier League on the horizon more hungry players are coming to fruition because they want to be ready for it."

Foothills FC is looking to give spectators the full fan experience with food and beverages, local bands, and half time shows.

The season kicks off with a game against the Victoria Highlanders at the Comp on Friday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m.
