Black Diamond's Harley Tucker was on the field as the U-20 Canada Women's Rugby Team totally dominated the Americans in the Can-Am rugby series over the weekend in Ottawa.

Canada won game one 45-24, and game two 52-12

Tucker who plays lock and flanker, says it took a few days for the team to come together but some hard work made it all happen.

"It took a few days for us to get close and comfortable with each other," said Tucker. "By the time we headed out for our first game we had already worked so hard training three times a day. Our first game seemed pretty easy to us we were able to work really together really well."

Tucker wasn't a starter as she was one of the younger players, but she played at least half of both games.

And she really enjoyed what she learned from the coaches.

"We were working on very specific game skills every day."

Tucker added the team from the United States was tough, they had a deep bench, some talented players who were hard to tackle.

"It was definitely a really good competition for us."

Two years ago the U-20 team lost both games to the U.S., so she said it was nice to show them how far the Canadian program has come and it was nice to have a high level of competition.

Tucker adds it will be great to take everything she learned back to her school team, the Acadia University Axewomen.
