Volunteers will spend the weekend getting the courts ready for the start of the world shuffleboard championships Monday, July 16 in High River.

Event Chair, Ken Wardley, says believe it or not, it's a great sport for spectators.

"And I think this will give them an opportunity to see how competitive it is and also the amount of socialability and fun they can have playing shuffleboard. People coming in from all over the world are coming in because they can renew friendships. Renewing friendships is a big thing in shuffleboard."

World Shuffleboard Event Chair Ken Wardley's pretty excited to be hosting the event this year.

They kick things off with the opening ceremonies Monday morning with competition starting that afternoon and running through the week at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex.
