All the local drivers got a raise at the Calgary Stampede Tarp Auction Thursday, March 21.

High River's Jason Glass, got a $20,000 bump as he pulled in $120,000.

High River's Jordie Fike, was up $10,000 over last year to $90,000 this year.

And Okotoks Mark Sutherland jumped up $5,000 to $105,000.

Troy Dorchester got the high bid of the night at $150,000, which says is good for both him and the sport.

"It's good for chuckwagon racing. The whole night's been a really good night. And that's what it's all about. I mean it takes money to do what we do and I love the sport."

Reigning two time Rangeland Derby champ, Kurt Bensmiller, actually dropped $10,000 from his 2018 total from last year's high bid of $130,000 to $120,000 this year.

Overall $3,288,500 was spent on the wagons, up $50,500 from last year.

The wagons run in Calgary from July 5 to 14 this year
