Just over $2.4 million dollars in total bids at the Calgary Stampede Tarp Auction Thursday, March 23, up $123,000 from 2016.

Of the locals, only High River's Jordie Fike came out ahead, as he was bought by Horsepower Inc., for $57,500, up $2,500 from last year.

High River's Jason Glass had the second highest bid of the night, $95,000 from Friends of Glass Racing, the same total as last year.

While Okotoks Mark Sutherland will have to make due with $5,000 less as the Cowboys Casino Posse picked him up for $80,000.

Stampede President Dave Sibbald says it was a good auction.

"We couldn't be more than happy with the support we got from the community tonight."

"The King" Kelly Sutherland, entering his 50th and final year on the tour, had the night's top bid at $110,000, while the High River Autoplex stayed with long time driver Colt Cosgrave sponsoring him to the tune of $65,000.
