High River long driver Dan McIntosh sure gave Orlando's Tim Burke a run for his money in the first round of the finals at the World Long Drive Championships in Mesquite, Nevada Tuesday, June 6.

Both golfers were tied with shots of 428 yards after their first eight shots, on a very windy grid.

The man known as "Smackintosh" around these parts, knocked one 421, in the bonus round, where each golfer gets four extra shots, but Burke topped him with a drive of 424 to eliminate McIntosh, who was making his first TV appearance.

Burke ended up losing in the final pairing to Ryan Reisbeck.
