Next year the Highwood Mustangs girls rugby team will be a force to be reckoned with.

But this year they got a little beat up in the Tier One Provincials in Sherwood Park last weekend.

They lost all three games they played.

Coach Bill Young says they played really well and with a large group of Grade 11 players returning next year the sky is the limit.

"That is a good little team there." said Young. "It was always the plan to get them to the provincials this year, give them the exposure, let them know what it is like to be there."

He adds it is one tough tournament to take part in they played three games in less then 24 hours.

There are some talented players on the team and if they put in the training next year they will be competitors at the provincial level.

"It is really important, they have to do a lot of things, some cross fit training and some wrestling."

Young adds next year is going to be exciting.

"Every dog has its day and I believe that Highwoods day is next year."

There are going to be lots of grade 12 students, some Grade 11 and some nice Grade 9's moving up this year.

"It's not going to be an easy team to make next year."
