The Okotoks Oilers had a good weekend, picking up a couple of wins.

They got past the Fort McMurray Oil Barons 3-2 in the shootout Saturday, December 15, and then dumped the Lloydminster Bobcats 5-3 Sunday, December 16, at the Pason Centennial Arena.

The Oilers were up 5-0 in this one after the first two periods, before letting their foot off the gas for the final 20 minutes, giving up three third period goals.

Gibb Coadey had a couple of goals for the Oilers in this one, including the game winner, shorthanded in the second period.

The Oilers Quinn Olson had a three point night with a goal and two helpers.

The Oilers have now won four straight, but remain fourth in the AJHL's South Division tied with the Camrose Kodiaks with 41 points.

They are creeping up on the second place Drumheller Dragons though, as the Dragons have lost three straight and are just five points up on the Oilers.

The Oilers can get even closer as they face the Dragons Tuesday, December 18 in Okotoks.

The Oilers are on the road this weekend with games in Olds and Calgary against the Canucks before taking some time off for the Christmas Break.

They're back at it New Year's Day when they head to Brooks to face the Bandits.
