The Okotoks Oilers put game one against the Calgary Canucks in the win column, 3-0, in their Alberta Junior Hockey League best of 7 playoff series.

With a goal in each period, they were able to shut out the Canucks, but defenceman Jacob Bernard-Docker says they need to keep pushing hard.

"In the playoffs you have to find a way to grind it out and I think we did that, the two points was the most important thing there," Bernard-Docker said.

Carter Huber, Jordan Xavier and Trey Degraaf scored for the Oilers while Nolan Thompson, Tanner Laderoute, Cory Santoro and Adian Roche-Setoguchi all earned assists.

Bernard-Docker added the Canucks did a good job of pushing back and it was tough to defend.

"I think overall we did a good job of making safe plays and getting it out of our end and being sound defensively."

The team is missing a few players and others are stepping up to fill in the void.

"Guys are stepping up and playing those more important minutes and roles and that is what we need in playoffs."

Bernard-Docker said the key to winning game two will be scoring more goals.

Game two is March 18, at the Max Bell arena in Calgary, puck drops at 7:30.
