Soccer provincials were in town last weekend at the Crescent Point Regional Field House.

Matt Lumsden the Technical Program Director for Okotoks United Soccer Club says a lot of our Okotoks teams did really well, especially when it came to those penalty shoot outs.

"We ended up with two bronze medals, with our girls U-12 and our girls U-16 team. They won both of their bronze games in penalty shootouts," Lumsden said.

"In the boys side we had two 5th place finishes, so over all really good."

The Okotoks United Soccer Club had 6 teams enter the tournament, nearly 35 teams participated.

Lumsden said it was a great turn out and really put Okotoks on the map.

"It was excellent, we had 37 teams in total, which was close to 600 players. With the spectators there was probably 2000 people in the building."

"It was rocking, it was a really fun weekend,  a great advert for our town and a great advert for soccer in Alberta," he said.

The Okotoks United Soccer Club is now focusing on outdoor soccer, they are accepting registration for that season until the end of April.

The outdoor field at the Crescent Point Field House should be open by mid April.
