The High River RCMP are following up on an incident on Tuesday October 30, where a 9 year old girl was injured by a dog near Joe Clark School in High River.

Police say the student walked off school grounds during recess to approach a female walking what is believed to be a pit-bull.

According to the RCMP, the student asked to pet the dog and the owner obliged, however at some point the dog jumped on the child, causing injuries.

Police are saying that the full extent of the child's injuries were not known until she got back to school and the owner had left the area.

Police are looking to speak with the owner and are asking the public for any information they may have on the incident.
