Anyone spring cleaning in the Town of Nanton, that would like to get rid of stuff they no longer want, can chuck it outside.

Nanton Free-Cycle days are underway with residents putting their unwanted treasures outside with sign that says "Free" on it.

Mayor Jennifer Handley says she's seen a lot of cool items around town.

"Lots of bikes, I saw a fish tank today, I've seen rain barrels, patio furniture and plastic kids toys," said Handley. "I saw these hand blown glass balls out there today. Some really unique items out there for sure."

Town administration came up with the idea to put your stuff in your yard or on your boulevard, but not on the sidewalk, and then hope that it disappears.

"Why not put it out on the street and maybe what you're not using could be someone else's treasure."

Residents started putting their items out on Saturday, May 5.

"Driving around town, holy smokes, people really seem to be embracing it. It is quite fun to see how people are jumping on this initiative."

All yards and boulevards have to be clear of Free-Cycle items by Saturday, May 12 at noon.
