It was a full house at Monday's public hearing, and High River Mayor Craig Snodgrass was excited to see so many people come and voice their opinions.

"I love it when we have public hearings and the public actually shows up. So, I thought yesterday was great that everybody came to share their thoughts on where that development is going and how it's going to be developed. Because I think everybody's got to be involved in this community as to how this place looks going into the future."

This week's hearing was in reference to rezoning a part of the Highwood Ranch, and Snodgrass says in general he would like to see more involvement from town residents.

"It's not just the people that live around those areas, and that's what I saw yesterday. It was just the people that were kind of directly affected with the development. There are some concerns that I agree with and there are some that don't really hold a lot of weight."

Mayor Snodgrass notes the importance of such proceedings.

"(The) public hearing yesterday allows the public to come and voice their concerns and their opposition to it or their support of it. Honestly I'd like to see more public involvement at these public hearings."
