The Foothills Advocacy In Motion Society in Okotoks raised some important money last weekend with their own version of Oktoberfest.

The Crystal Shores Beach House was packed with guests who opened their heart to help those with development disabilities.

Fundraising Coordinator with AIM Lisa MacDougall says they didn't just focus on particular events to raise money at.

"We did just a lot of different types of fundraising events throughout the night," she says. "We did a bingo that raised some money, a dessert dash, silent auction and we ended up raising just shy of $11,000."

Along with the events, there were two speeches from Employment and Day Services Manager Brad Fowler and board member David Stark speaking on the importance and service AIM brings to the community.

MacDougall says you really felt like you were in Germany for the real Oktoberfest.

"We had Spolumbo sausages, the traditional pretzels, we had lots of German games and music so it was just a fun night for everyone."

MacDougall says the money raised will help AIM's Okotoks Branch get off the ground at their new humble beginnings.

"We've moved into a different location in Okotoks so there's just so many expenses with that. We're going to be using some of this money to get furniture, blinds and anything that's leftover will go to all the programs we offer for adults with developmental disabilities."
