The man who'll carry the Alberta Party banner into the spring Provincial election is already gearing up for the campaign.

Tim Meech says slowly, but surely he feels he's changing hearts and minds, one person at a time.

"Definitely. People are very open to what we have to say in this riding. It's one of those party's that maybe a lot of people don't know about it, but the moment you start talking about our policies and where we're at and who were are, it quickly turns the conservation over to something positive."

Meech says the trick is turning all the support he's seeing when talking to people into actual votes.

He says the big issues he's facing when campaigning are people are very concerned about pipelines and the oil price differential.

He says the other thing he's combating is the perception that a vote for Jason Kenney and the UCP will immediately translate into shovels in the ground and a pipeline to the west coast.

He says it's not going to work that way and people need to vote for a party that's going to be able to get the job done right.

Meech says he knows he has an uphill battle in a traditional conservative riding, but says he's hearing good things about the Alberta Party when he's out door knocking.
