The NDP release their long awaited provincial budget Thursday afternoon.

We already know the biggest piece of bad news, we'll be facing a $10-billion deficit.

However, Highwood MLA Wayne Anderson says that's just one of the things he's not looking forward to in this budget.

"I'm not looking forward to a 10-to-14-billion dollar deficit. I don't think Albertans deserve it. I don't think my children or grandchildren deserve that. I think they could be doing a lot better. But, they've been pretty closed mouthed about it. Of course their budget is late, as usual. It should have been presented before the end of the fiscal year, which is March. It should have been presented the second week of March, not the second week of April."

Other than the deficit, no real numbers are known in the budget, but Finance Minister Joe Ceci has promised no new taxes.

Anderson says that promise is already out the window.

"He said no new taxes, well what's a carbon tax? It's a hidden provincial sales tax that going to effect everybody, starting in January. And that's going to be a 3-billion dollar tax that's going to go right back to their general revenue, which gives them a chance to do whatever they want with it. And they're attempting to sell us on renewable's and other sorts of entities that are going to be subsidized heavily, and still end up costing us in the long run."

Ceci says the budget will also include details on job creation and economic diversification strategies.

It'll be released around 3 Thursday afternoon.
