High River's church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will hold its annual fall food drive on Sat. Sept. 12.

Food-drive chairman, Cathy Anderson, says it's something the food bank heavily counts on each year.

"The community has always been so awesome at putting their donations out for us. The Salvation Army really counts on this annual food drive, and it always turns out so great," she says. "We bring truck loads of food in which fills a room at the Salvation Army and it takes them a few weeks to go through everything and get it all organized."

Volunteers have already gone around town, leaving grocery bags on people's doors with instructions.

"You should see a yellow No Frills bag on your doorknob of your home, and there's an instruction sheet that will give you some ideas of what can be placed in the bag," Anderson says. "Of course, check the expiry dates, we don't want any expired food in the bag."

She adds if you forget to fill your bag or are out of town during the food drive, you can always bring food items directly to the Salvation Army food bank or to any local grocery store.
