There was one family with a vested interest in the newly expanded Cancer Care Centre at the High River Hospital on hand for the opening last week.

Hilda Armstrong's husband really got the ball rolling to improve the facility after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

"When Frank was originally diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2007, he received his chemo treatments here at the clinic, his dream was to have something happen to ensure that people undergoing this type of illness would have a more pleasant place to be coming to, because it was not the best," Armstrong says. "But it's certainly ended up being the Taj Mahal."

She says the new centre is fantastic.

"A lot of work has gone into this, a lot of fundraising and I can't say enough about the Rotarians and the people who donated so much towards this and they should be recognized for that," she says.
