Local artists and history buffs will come together on June 3 to raise some money for a good cause.

The Art Takes Flight Exhibition and Sale will take place underneath the wings of the Second World War planes at the Bomber Command Museum in Nanton.

Organizer Garry Dilschneider said the artists will be donating 20 percent of their sales to the Museum for Expansion Fund.

"We have 25 artists of various disciplines." said Dilschneider. "Glass artists, painters, jewellers, metal workers even cigar box guitars."

The sale goes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. inside the museum and all the aircraft are still in place.

Dilschneider and Dana Zielke organized the event and searched out the artists.

"We selected people we knew, asked some folks that we knew wanted to participate. New artists as well as professional artists so we have a good cross section."

He added this is a good opportunity to see a lot of good art in one location.

Dilschneider does jewelry southwestern style inlay silver and a little bit of gold, while Zielke does sketches, water colours and western theme paintings and Longview artist Gail Gallup will be on hand along with over 20 others.

"Not everybody exhibits in galleries and not everybody has store front or web site operations. So this a very unique opportunity to see stuff that isn't available in one location."

The Bomber Command Museum is trying to raise money to build a big new addition to their building.
