The group looking to build a performing arts centre in downtown High River got a chance to make their pitch to High River Town Council Monday, June 26.

Theo Loewen, President of the High River Performing Arts Foundation says the $3 million they're looking for to build the Centre will come from a variety of sources.

"Part of that is through grants and government dollar for dollar matching. And then also as we develop our fundraising plan, that will be coming out probably before the end of Summer, and just talking to people, getting people out there and having conversations about it."

Loewen says they're hoping the Town can help them get off their feet, not with an infusion of cash, but waiving some fees and taxes.

"It's a reduction on taxes and waiving the permit fees for the building project itself. In an effort that the money that we raise for this project, all that money would go to the building rather than to the taxes or the permits that have to come out of that fundraising money."

Council will discuss that plan at their next meeting in July.
