It was a relatively average week for the Okotoks Fire Department according to Fire Chief Ken Thevenot.

Thevenot says from Mon. June 29 to Sun. July 5, the fire department responded to 18 different calls.

"We nine medical responses we assisted with," he says. "We had two public hazards we attended to. We also had three alarm system activations, and we attended two motor vehicle accidents."

Thevenot says the 18 calls are right on par with most weeks, which gives them around 1000 each year.

"The number of calls and the types of incidents we responded to is pretty typical for us," he says. "Being at 18, we run about 18 or 19 calls a week."

Thevenot says while the number of responses is usually around 18 or 19 per week, the type of calls tend to change.

"Every season brings different types of calls," he says. "So, possibly this time of year, we might see more water-related calls, because people are more active on the river system."

Thevenot says to date, Okotoks Fire has responded to 572 calls, which is about 100 more than this time last year.
