After hearing a desperate cry for donations a local charity is stepping up to give those in need a hand.

Baby It's Cold Outside is a local charity that focuses on helping those going through rough times and lifting up the homeless population in our area.

B.C.O Founder Pamela Morgan says Calgary shelters get dangerously low on towels and linens, things that many people might take for granted.

"Right Now the Drop In Centre, and the Mustard Seed, both in Calgary are in dire need of towels." Morgan says that covers all types "Whether that be bath towels, hand towels, face cloths or kitchen towels we'll accept gently used or new."

Morgan says the donations they accept and deliver don't always stay in the shelters.

"I'd love for everyone to keep in mind that this isn't just for shelter clients, they also take on transitional housing for the individuals who are just getting back up on their feet or landing on their feet for the first time. This gives them an opportunity to go into the Drop In Centre Facility and collect the items they need for their first place."

Morgan also notes that unused donations are sent to surrounding charities much like the Rowan House or other Women's Shelters.

If you have towels, linens or clothing donations Baby It's Cold Outside will gladly accept and distribute them amongst Shelters.

There are two bins in Okotoks, one at the Chatters location in Southbank, the other hamper is at Staples.

Morgan says for those who need a home pick up she's willing to help there too.

"Anybody is welcome to text 403-660-3648 and we will get someone out there." Morgan plans to make it easy "You can leave your bagged donation on your front porch and we will come pick it up from you."

B.C.O says that they constantly check their Facebook page and that's another great way to contact them.
