The Red Deer RCMP are warning the "Bank Manager Scam" is making the rounds again, targeting senior citizens.

Two seniors, both women in their 80s, were contacted a by a man who claimed to be a bank inspector who needed their help secretly to catch a thief.

He asked them to withdraw almost $4,000 in cash and meet him in a parking lot of a department store.

After talking with family members and bank staff, the women did not meet with the suspect.

Corporal Karyn Kay of the Red Deer RCMP said to talk to friends and family and warn vulnerable people in your life about common scams like this one.

Kay adds it is a big red flag whenever anyone asks you to do something in secret.

RCMP are urging the public to educate themselves and the vulnerable people in their lives about common scams like this one and others and the red flags to watch out for.

She adds always shred your bills and envelopes so scammers can't target you from your recycling.
