Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his 30 member cabinet were sworn in Wednesday morning on Parliament Hill.

A mix of long time and rookie MP's make up his cabinet.

One name well known to Western farmers is Ralph Goodale, the long time Saskatchewan MP and former Agriculture Minister who now takes over the role of Public Safety Minister.

Foothills MP John Barlow, heading back to Ottawa for his swearing in in the next day or so, says he'll be in Goodale's ear as soon as possible.

"Ralph I know quite well. So for him in Public Safety is somebody I'll be talking with a great deal as we talk about some of the flood mitigation and DRP programs that will obviously impact a lot of the communities, High River, Bragg Creek, Turner Valley and Black Diamond. And that comes under public safety, so I'll be trying to get together with Ralph as soon as I have an opportunity."

Other notables in Cabinet are former Interim Prime Minister Stephane Dion, in Foreign Affairs, Toronto Businessman and millionaire Bill Morneau in Finance and Calgary MP, Kent Hehr in Veterans Affairs.

As for Barlow, he's not sure where he'll end up on the opposition benches.

He says that will be made clear once an interim Conservative Party Leader is chosen.
