Several items on the docket at the regular meeting of High River Town Council Monday afternoon like some local statistics from STARS.

Council heard STARS has 20 missions to High River and the local area every year, that include medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents and hospital transfers.

They're making the rounds to municipalities seeking funding to help offset the thirty-eight million dollars it costs to operate each year.

The government provides twenty-one million but it's up to STARS to bridge the gap and Council was asked to consider an annual commitment of twenty thousand dollars starting in 2017.

The status on the propsed demolition of the the water tower project was also presented.

In August the Town retained Clifton Associates to conduct a demolition and risk assessment study and the results were less than favorable.

Samples of paint, soil samples around the base of the tower and the surround park, along with water samples from the tower itself were taken.

Many, if not all exceeded provincial regulations

As a result $400,000 in additional funding is needed for the demolition of the tower and the remediation of the park.

Council was also updated on the Highwood Springs Estates and the development of the Heritage Residences.

Infrastructure is in place and construction should start in spring 2017 and be ready for occupancy by fall 2017.
