Black Diamond is geared up for their By-Election and there's a few things you should know for voting day.

Returning Officer Verna Staples says there should be no confusion about where to vote.

"There's just one polling station. We are at the town office on the main floor and we will be open from 10am until 8pm."

She says if you don't have photo ID when you can use other things like a bank statement or a government cheque or cheque stub.

She says they have a lot of work to do when the polls close.

"We do count manually so it'll take us a little while. The better the turn out the longer it takes, then we'll post the information to our website once we have it all tallied up."

She says the rules of residency will apply.

"The rules of residency state that you have to be an Alberta resident for six months prior to election day, and you have to live in Black diamond on election day."
