Black Diamond Town Council received a letter from a student at Turner Valley School asking for money to be donated from the Town to go towards the schools Legacy Park Project. After much debate by council they had to turn down the request and according to Mayor Sharlene Brown it is because right now the town just does not have the money for parks.

"It's a great project and the parents have been doing a lot of work to get this park up and running but the Town of Black Diamond just does not have the money for playground equipment for a school." Brown says.

Even though council turned down the project at this time they are not looking past the fact that it's a great project for both communities.

Brown says that ultimately it was councils decision and it is a good project, unfortunately right now it is something the town can not help fund.

"We understand, that school boards and parents associations all need somewhere to play."
