The Foothills School Division is going to be getting some help making a plan for modernizing Blackie School.

The FSD's Assistant Superintendent of Corporate Services, Drew Chipman, says the Province is going to help by having a "Value Management Review" for the building.

"It is where the province comes down and works with us, works with the community on what the needs of the school are," said Chipman.

They appoint an architect and Alberta Infrastructure people come and lead the review.

"Hopefully this will help us provide the rationale and the province will recognize our need for a modernization."

This is the second or third year the school has been number one on the list to get worked on for the division.

"There are some things out there that we need to get done, the water system, sewer system, flooring, windows, those are to the point that they are past their life span."

He adds they are anxious to get the school modernized.

"It's a vibrant community and we are looking to support them."

Going through the "Value Management Review" doesn't guarantee the modernization project will move ahead though.

"It is always great when you can have an architect and have Alberta Infrastructure expertise. They know these buildings, know what is required and will be able to walk us through what is expected."
