The Foothills School division is hopeful new partnerships can help them move forward with modernizing Blackie School.

They recently wrapped up a "Value Management Review" of the Blackie School building which is at the top of the Division's list to get worked on.

The review involved the Province, the Foothills School Division and the community and will hopefully lead to the school getting some much needed upgrades.

Assistant Superintendent of Corporate Services, Drew Chipman says it went well.

"We have been working the MD and Alberta Infrastructure along with Alberta Education as to what is best for that community," said Chipman.

They'll be presenting the results of the review at their next board meeting.

Chipman says the division is excited about how the review looks.

"Now we are looking for partnerships with the community and the MD. Those types of partnerships will be looked at favourably by the Province and it certainly has the potential to help you to get provincial funding."

He says they had lots of community involvement on the project and people are cautiously optimistic about the modernization project moving forward.

"At the end of the day, we don't make those decisions they are made by the province.".
