Wildrose Leader Brian Jean was in Okotoks yesterday to participate in local M.L.A, Wayne Anderson's annual golf tournament.

During his stay in the Foothills Jean made a point of reminding Alberta residents that if they want a voice, to buy a membership to their chosen political party.

Jean shares that his Wildrose members will vote for or against the unification of the right wing on July 22nd, he says it's important to have a say.

"Yes!  There's some really big news...the news is, that if people don't buy their membership by July 8th, they wont be able to participate in the unity vote on July 22nd." Jean adds "The biggest hurdle in the unity process is the 75% [approval] required by the Wildrose members."

With recent upheaval in society about radical anti Islam movements becoming more rampant in Alberta, Brian Jean called for the province to come together and support each other in fixing our economy rather then dividing each other.

"I certainly think more communication is absolutely essential and informing people of what is allowed to be done under the law and what isn't. I think any kind of hate speech and any kind of intolerant messaging is not acceptable in our society today. People need to put those kind of things behind them and focus on moving on together towards tackling some of the major issues that we have such as jobs and our economy."

While a rally this weekend planned by the Worldwide Coalition Against Islam (W.C.A.I) is set to take place downtown Calgary, Jean says we need to focus on more immediate challenges as a community.

"We have a rising crime rate, a huge economic issue and an unemployment rate around the 200,000 range as well as a record number of unemployment applications. We need to focus on giving people more opportunity, frankly I think this kind of thing is unacceptable and gets in the way of that."

Of course one of those immediate challenges is the provinces economy.

A challenge that Jean says is getting his full attention.

"We are 20% more expensive then British Colombia, we have the most expensive government in Canada and this N.D.P government continues to hire more and more employees, while not looking at any efficiencies." Jean puts the number to task by adding "We're going to be at about $90 Billion in debt by 2020, that means about $3 Billion in interest payments each and every year. $3 Billion is more than we spend on our justice system here in Alberta."

Jean has been touring around the province with a point of hearing from Albertan's and he says he is committed to living up to Albertan's expectations of him.
