The fire ban has been lifted for the M.D. of Foothills.

M.D. Fire Chief Jim Smith says it may not last long, but people can go ahead and burn for now.

"We've had a lot of requests phones in to the Fire Service, so we just are looking at the requests versus potential loss. So we're just saying ok, well let's see if we can raise it for a little bit, give the people opportunity to do what they need to do, and maybe look at conditions next week."

He says the burn ban is off for now, but conditions are still relatively dry.

"Conditions overall are still relatively dry. Even though we've had a little bit of rain over the last period it's still not enough to soak the larger fuels. The finer fuels such as grass are still quite moist right now, but it won't take long to get that dried out as well."

Smith is asking people to use caution while burning as conditions are still dry.

"I would advise people to use super-caution. Just to watch what they're doing, make sure they have somebody at the fire at all times to make sure it doesn't get out of control quickly. The conditions are still quite dangerous, especially with some of the larger fuels, so just make sure that you have your water supply and just watch it all of the time."
