The Town of High River has received the Canadian Award For Financial Reporting for the second consecutive year.

The Town's Chief Financial Officer Kola Oladimeji says the award is not easily given out.

"We are really proud of the award, it's an award that recognizes efforts, it's not just given to us on a plaque of gold. We really worked for it."

Oladimeji says he brought a set of standards to High River and with the leadership skills he's brought the financial team has become a force to be reckoned with.

"I'm a man of standards. Let's raise the bar, you can do it. I know the team I have they're all good but, once you give them the right leadership and they bought into it, and increased the bar."

Oladimeji says his team is striving for a different award given out for budgets, and he's confident they will receive it next year.

"We have another award for budgets...so yeah, next year we will be able to tell you two different awards."
