A close call for employees of Ace Liquor Discounter in Okotoks on Thursday afternoon (June 3).

Just after 2 p.m., a car crashed into the store, breaking through the front window.

A large steel display shelf was knocked over inside the store, and though a piece of debris hit one of the store's employees, they and the vehicle's occupants were cleared for injuries at the scene.

According to Okotoks RCMP, the driver had mistakenly shifted to drive rather than reverse and accelerated into the building.

Despite the damage to the building, the car was still in relatively good shape and was driven a few metres away from the shop to be towed at around 3:30.
